An animal adult, whether human or non-human, is a creature that has developed to its full potential. Adults are a social concept as well as a legal concept within the world of humans. As opposed to someone not considered an adult or "minor" legally adult is a person who has reached the age of majority which makes them independent as well as responsible and competent. The word "major" may be used to describe these individuals. There is a general belief that the threshold at which an individual can legally become an adult is 18. But, it can vary depending on legal rights and country as well as the development of the individual's psychological.

At the point that a person reaches physical and intellectual maturity this is called adulthood. The age of adulthood typically begins with the age of 21. After middle age (starting about 40 years old) then comes the age of old age (around the age of 60). As we grow older, there are three distinct stages: Early adulthood (18-30 years), Middle Adulthood (30-60 years) and late adulthood (60%-60 percent). The physical maturation process is complete when we enter the early years of adulthood (20-40s) however, your weight and height could be a little higher. The physical abilities of our bodies are at their peak at the age of young adulthood. It includes strength of muscles, reflex time, senses, and heart functioning.
